Hi vAdmins and Cloud migration specialists,

After composing numerous blog posts about VMware HCX, The workload mobility Tool, it’s now time to create some demonstration material!

I aim to delve into configuring of VMware HCX right now from a brand new demo environment, covering aspects like site pairing, compute profile(s) and creating a Service Mesh.

Let’s kick things off by addressing the fundamental setup.

*Two VMware HCX sites are already prepared in this situation.

Site Paring

We will follow this procedure for both sites, site 1 and site 2. This demonstration will focus only on pairing Site 1 (Amsterdam) with Site 2.

Create Compute Profiles

In the demo below we create a computer profile and network profile. As part of this proces we select which VMware HCX services will be activated.

Create Service Mesh

We have crafted services, computer profiles, and network profiles in the demonstration above. Now, we will demonstrate how to interconnection these services and components.

A few moments later!

A Service Mesh was configured and activated in the previous demonstration. Meanwhile, VMware HCX has implemented this setup in the background, deployed appliances, and the demo below presents a visual summary of this integration.

One more thing

The Transport Analytics feature in the VMware HCX Console is an incredibly robust tool. It provides valuable insights of your infrastructure performance by allowing you to conduct tests that reveal crucial information such as available bandwidth, latency, and packet loss.

End of this post.
