If you manage a VMware environment you will probably regularly download binaries for patching and upgrading your VMware stack. Changes are being made so please be aware!
Commencing on the 24th of March, 2025, a shift is set to take place in the binary download procedure towards a fresh approach. This revision entails the following modifications:
Centralization to a Singular Download Platform:
Software binaries will now be accessible for download from a single portal site instead of multiple sources, applicable to online and offline methods.
Implementation of Download Authentication:
A unique token will be required for all downloads. This token will be embedded in the URLs to ensure that the individual downloading is the authorized user.

Customers can generate a unique token from the Broadcom portal.
– Please be aware that the current download links will remain active for a thirty-day period to facilitate this transition. After the 24th of April, 2025, these existing URLs will cease to be operational.

My advice to customers is to process and test these changes as soon as possible. Don’t wait until the deadline and avoid delays in downloading critical patches.
