This blog post will cover the new VCP certifications and requirements based on VVF/VCF 9, so what’s new?

VMware has introduced brand new VVF and VCF 9 certifications that directly connect accreditation with your practical skills (Role-Based Framework), which perfect fits by optimize private cloud environments. This new certification framework offers distinct career paths for Engineering, Architect and Support, each with various levels of expertise.

These VCF-focused VCP certifications validate your skills in designing, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting VMware vSphere Foundation and VMware Cloud Foundation environments. Importantly, these certifications are now structured by role rather than by technology, emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of VVF and VCF platforms.

Let’s have a closer look at there Role Based certifications.

VCP-VVF-Support: Recommended training: VMware Cloud Foundation: Troubleshooting (Exam: 2V0-18.25).

The VMware Certified Professional – VMware vSphere Foundation Support(VCP-VVF support) certification validates a candidate’s skills in standard troubleshooting techniques and methodologies to issues encountered during the deployment and operation of VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF). It confirms a high-level understanding of VVF, including its features, functions, components, and architectural models. Key components covered include VCF Operations, vCenter, VMware ESX, VMware vSAN, and VMware Operations for logs

VCP-VCF-Support: Recommended training: VMware Cloud Foundation: Troubleshooting (Exam: 2V0-15.25).

The VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud Foundation Support (VCP-VCF Support) certification validates the skills required to support and troubleshoot private cloud environments built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This certification is designed for IT professionals expanding from existing support infrastructure roles and into cloud administration / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) roles. Candidates for this certification include professionals responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting VCF infrastructure in a way that contributes to an organization meeting service level objectives for availability, performance, and security. By achieving this certification, professionals demonstrate their ability to effectively troubleshoot issues with private cloud environments based on VCF.

Implement Role:

VCP-VVF Administrator: Recommended training is VMware Cloud Foundation: Build, Manage, and Secure & Automation and Operations (Exam: 2V0-16.25).

The VMware Certified Professional – VMware vSphere Foundation Administrator (VCP-VVF Admin) certification validates the skills required to deploy, manage, and support private cloud environments built on VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF). This certification is designed for IT professionals expanding from traditional infrastructure roles to cloud administration. Candidates for this certification includes professionals responsible for implementing and maintaining VVF infrastructure, ensuring it meets organizational service level objectives for availability, performance, and security. By achieving this certification, professionals demonstrate their ability to effectively operate VVF environments.

VCP-VCF Administrator: Recommended training is VMware Cloud Foundation: Build, Manage, and Secure & Automation and Operations (Exam: 2V0-17.25).

The VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator (VCP-VCF Admin) certification validates the skills required to deploy, manage, and support private cloud environments built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This certification is designed for IT professionals expanding from traditional infrastructure roles to cloud administration. Candidates for this certification includes professionals responsible for implementing and maintaining VCF infrastructure, ensuring it meets organizational service level objectives for availability, performance, and security. By achieving this certification, professionals demonstrate their ability to effectively operate VCF environments.

Architect Role:

VCP-VCF Architect: Recommended training is VMware Cloud Foundation: Solution Architecture and Design (Exam: 2V0-13.25).

The VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (VCP-VCF Architect) certification validates a candidate’s skills in designing VCF solutions including manageability, availability, performance, recovery and security, as well as monitoring, capacity planning, and migration. Job-roles associated with this certification include infrastructure architects and consultants.

VCF Certification Lifecycle

With the introduction of these new VCP VCF certification there are made some changes to the certification policies. VMware Cloud Foundation certifications now have an expiration date and a 36-month renewal window. Which ensures that the VCF certification remains a current and accurate reflection of your expertise. 

  • Upgrade paths – There are no predefined paths for upgrading through training. Details about renewing certifications will be given prior to the expiration of your current credentials.
  • No year-based titles – Certification titles now no longer incorporate the year of attainment but rather are associated with the specific exam completed and the certification date.
  • Training and badges – To obtain a certification badge, passing the corresponding exam is essential; simply finishing the training isn’t enough. The renewal guidelines spanning 36 months pertain specifically to VMware Cloud Foundation certifications. For Broadcom Software certifications, there exists a unique renewal protocol detailed in their policy documentation.

If you take a closer look at the VMware Education portal, you probability noticed that the certification upgrade path has been simplified, yes indeed no more upgrade paths are available but there are only recommended courses available!
