I personally highly recommend following this training for IT administrators and Cloud architects who want to brush up on their knowledge for managing and migrating workload to the Public-Cloud, based on the VMware Cloud across different hyperscaler partners, including:

This training consists of 9 modules, described below.

During this course, you will describe operational maintenance and troubleshooting for VMware Cloud on AWS. Topics include key user accounts and roles, enterprise federation setup, management and operational responsibilities, update and upgrade responsibilities, support resources, best practices for avoiding common issues with cloud SDDC operations and troubleshooting common problems that occur in cloud SDDC operations.

This training and exam covers many VMware products, including vSphere (Hypervsior) vSAN (storage) NSX-T (Network), HCX (migration tooling, VCDR (DR solutions) and Application Modernization (VMware Tanzu Grid).

By taking this course you will better understand the concept and value of the VMware Cloud Services such as AVS or VMCA.

During this course you are going to identify key components of a VMware Cloud solution, including how to connect and migrate to VMware Cloud (across different hyperscaler partners) and the benefit of VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid. It certifies an earner’s fundamental understanding of storage, networking, security, business continuity and disaster recovery concepts, as well as the ability to monitor and troubleshoot, in a VMware Cloud environment.

There is also a lot of focus on use cases and the onboarding. The VMWare Cloud Operation model helped me immensely to understand more about the processes around Multi-Cloud concepts including responsibilities.

Personally, I found this one of the most interesting VCP exam preparations because a lot of basic knowledge is also covered in the exam.

By going through this training will help you better understand the added value and processes surrounding the Multi Cloud. You’ll become more familiar with concept of an SDDC after completing these modules.

The minimally qualified candidate (MQC) can successfully identify the key components of a VMware Cloud solution and how to support migrations from an on-premises data center into VMware Cloud (across different hyperscaler partners including VMware Cloud on AWS). The successful candidate understands the networking requirements to support VMware Cloud use cases and the benefit of VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG). The successful candidate also has a basic understanding of storage concepts, security, business continuity and disaster recovery, as well as monitoring and troubleshooting, in a VMware Cloud environment.

Training modules:

1 Cloud Computing and Operations

During this course, you will identify the benefits of cloud computing and VMware’s multi-cloud vision, which includes the VMware Cloud operating model, explain the benefits of managing a multi-cloud environment using vRealize products, VMware Horizon, and CloudHealth and recognize how VMware and its hyperscaler partners address the IT challenges of moving to a hybrid cloud environment.

2 SDDC Planning and Design.

During this course, you will focus on design decisions.

3 VMware Cloud Onboarding and Setup

During this course, you will describe the onboarding and setup process for VMware Cloud and AWS, Azure VMware Solution, and Google Cloud VMware Engine. Topics include core concepts, planning considerations, user accounts, and ways to connect on-premises data centers to cloud SDDCs.

4 SDDC Networking

During this course you will recognize key components of the NSX architecture in a cloud SDDC deployment, including network firewalling and segmentation, identify network monitoring tools, and ways to connect on-premises data centers and cloud SDDCs and configure networking and network security for VMware Cloud on AWS.

5 Workload Management

During this course, you will describe the components of a virtual machine and create virtual machines using different methods and create and manage virtual machines, snapshots, template, and clones. You will also recognize guest OS performance requirements for virtual CPU, memory, storage, and networking and describe vSphere users and permissions and add roles and users to a vCenter instance on VMware Cloud on AWS. Manage compute resources in a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC.

6 Modern Applications

During this course you will describe the purpose of Kubernetes, the functions of Kubernetes components, identify the tools and steps for deploying a Kubernetes cluster and recognize the functions of Tanzu Kubernetes Grid and choose appropriate VMware Tanzu solutions to address challenges in a multi-cloud environment.

7 Workload Mobility

During this course, you will explain the uses of Hybrid Linked Mode in VMware Cloud on AWS SDDCs, configure and perform different types of virtual machine migrations between data centers and describe the benefits, use cases and components of VMware HCX. You will also deploy and configure VMware HCX in a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC.

8 Disaster Recovery

During this course you will recognize the backup methods for virtual machines. You will also explain how VMware Site Recovery works and how to deploy and configure it in VMware Cloud on AWS and describe the benefits of VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery and how to configure it in VMware Cloud on AWS.

9 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

During this course you will learn how maintenance is announced and how to log a support ticket, for example.

The VCP-Cloud exam is available right now (2V0-33.22/Pearson VUE), the VCAP Cloud Design exam will be available at a later time.

This exam consists of 70 questions, with a passing score of 300 using a scaled scoring method. Candidates are given 135 minutes to complete the exam.

Once you successfully complete the course and passed the exam you will be entitled to the VMware Professional Cloud 2022 badge.
