VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Cloud Management and Automation Design 2022

Greetings, administrators!

I wanted to share my personal experience with the VMware Cloud Operations 8.x Professional exam, which I unfortunately failed during my first attempt last month.

Certification overview

The VMware Cloud Operations 8.x Professional (2V0-32.22) exam, which leads to VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Operations 2023 (VCP-CO 2023) certification, is a 60-item exam with a passing score of 300 using a scaled method. Candidates are given an appointment time of 130 minutes, which includes adequate time to complete the exam for nonnative English speakers. This exam may contain a variety of item types including single-selection multiple-choice, multiple-selection multiple-choice, matching, drag-and-drop, and hot area. Additional item types may be used but will appear less frequently than those previously mentioned.

Exam preparation

To prepare for this exam, I diligently completed the training courses “VMware vRealize Operations: Install, Configure, Manage” and “VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager: Install, Configure, Manage.” Additionally, I created a LAB environment and gained practical experience with vRealize Log Insight and shared my knowledge about VMware vRealize Operations through some posts (part 1 High Level, part 2 Cost and Capacity management and part 3 Performance and Optimization).

Believing that I was well-prepared, I decided to book this exam. As with any exam, I referred to the exam blueprint for guidance during my preparation. The main focus of this exam lies in having knowledge of VMware vRealize (new name is VMware Aria) specifically in the areas of Lifecycle Manager (LCM), Operations, and Log Insight. It is worth mentioning that the blueprint highlights certain sections that emphasize configuration and sizing, both of which are important aspects to prepare.

RECAP

Looking back on my experience, I realized that although I felt ready, I could have secured additional points and passed if I had possessed more in-depth knowledge on installation and configuration. One thing that stood out to me was that some VMware products and Solutions now have different names. Consequently, there were certain exam questions that referred to old name convention. This can probably be explained because after this exam development some VMware Solutions have been rebranded.

Personally, I find this aspect somewhat displeasing, and I sincerely hope that a newversion of the exam will be introduced in the near future.
